The region faced significant challenges in literacy development, with many teachers lacking the fundamental skills needed to effectively teach reading and writing. The project aimed to empower these educators by providing them with the necessary tools and methodologies to enhance their instructional capabilities, thereby improving the overall quality of education in the state.
Approach
To tackle the identified challenges, a comprehensive and systematic training programme titled "Read and Write with Ease" was developed. The program was meticulously designed to introduce and implement Jolly Phonics—a globally recognized method for teaching literacy—within Yobe State's educational framework.
